Patricia Marby Harrison
I have taught literature and writing at universities on both coasts, and I am now an independent scholar and writer living in South Carolina. I received my Ph.D. in English literature from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and my areas of expertise include seventeenth-century women's writing, Restoration drama, and eighteenth-century British poetry. My "fun" reading, however, covers a wide range of genres, including essays/nonfiction, travel writing, and nineteenth-century British poetry and novels. I am addicted to traveling and have lived in Australia and England, and thus I especially love to read books that allow me to be an armchair traveler to other places and times. Some of my favorite books include Dickens' David Copperfield, Hardy's Jude the Obscure, James' Portrait of a Lady, Forster's Howards End, Rowling's Harry Potter books, and anything by travel writer Bill Bryson.
